Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the website happydo – the employee app that makes people happy

bluesource - mobile solutions gmbh strives to make the online presence of its product happydo - the employee app that makes you happy accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act (BaFG) and the applicable (standard) requirements for barrier-free access to websites and mobile applications.

Compliance status

Our website complies with the requirements of conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 in accordance with European Standard EN 301 549. This is based on the Federal Act on Accessibility Requirements for Products and Services (BaFG), which is based on Directive (EU) 2019/882 – European Accessibility Act (EAA).

The barriers described below relate to individual aspects of the four basic principles of accessibility. At the same time, important measures have already been implemented to enable barrier-free use:

Perceptibility

What will be improved:

  • Color contrasts: Some text elements (e.g., headings or hover states) have a contrast ratio below 4.5:1. This can impair readability, especially for users with visual impairments.
Action: The colors in question will be revised to ensure WCAG-compliant contrast.
  • Visual headings (e.g., <span class="title">) without semantic heading tags: These are currently not correctly marked as headings.
Action: Conversion to semantic HTML headings with <h2> to <h6> elements.

What already works well:

  • The site uses high-contrast elements in many areas.
  • Images are provided with meaningful alternative text.
  • The design is fully responsive.

Usability

What will be improved:

  • Skip link missing: There is no skip link to navigate directly to the main content (violation of WCAG 2.4.1).
Action: A skip link will be implemented.
  • Focus markers are partially missing; interactive elements (e.g., slider arrows) cannot be visually focused.
Action: Clear focus frames will be added.
  • Aria attributes for dropdown menus: aria-expanded and aria-haspopup are missing to correctly display the states for screen readers.
Action: Dropdowns will be provided with the appropriate attributes.

What already works well:

  • Interactive elements such as buttons and links can be focused on with the keyboard (tabindex set correctly).
  • Page elements such as main content and footer are semantically correct with <main> and <footer> tags.
  • Carousels can be controlled with the keyboard and are provided with aria-label.
  • Comprehensibility

Comprehensibility

What will be improved:

  • Multiple <h1> elements per page, e.g., in cookie notices and in the content itself.
Action: Structural correction to exactly one unique <h1> per page.
  • Forms without labels or aria-labels: Form entries such as contact forms are not labeled in an accessible manner.
Action: Integration of visible labels or aria-label for all fields.
  • Link targets in new tab: Links that open in a new window are not marked (missing information for screen reader users).
Action: Add screen reader-friendly notes such as aria-label=“opens in new tab.”

What already works well:

  • The navigation is clearly structured and linguistically understandable.
  • Icons and non-informative graphics are correctly marked with aria-hidden=“true.”
  • Texts are formulated in a way that is appropriate for the target group and easy to understand.

Robustness

What still needs improvement:

  • Missing ARIA roles in menus and modal elements: Not all interactive areas (e.g., modal dialogs, dropdown menus) contain correctly set roles such as role="dialog" or aria-modal=“true.”
Action: Add these attributes to improve compatibility with screen readers.
  • Missing ARIA extensions for form validation: aria-required, aria-invalid, and dynamically updated states are missing.
Action: Form fields will be given dynamic ARIA attributes to display errors and required fields.

What already works well:

  • The HTML document structure is valid and follows modern HTML5 standards.
  • The page is consistently marked as multilingual (<html lang="de"> present).
  • The title tag is set correctly on all pages and describes the page content.

Non-accessible content

We are continuously working to make our website accessible. During our most recent review, we identified several areas that still need improvement:

  • Missing skip link: There is currently no visible skip link to bypass navigation and go directly to the main content.
  • Missing visual focus indicators: Some interactive elements, especially when navigating with the keyboard, do not show a clear focus state.
  • Multiple main headings per page: In some cases, multiple <h1> elements are used on a single page, for example in the cookie banner and in the content area. This can make it difficult for screen reader users to navigate.
  • Insufficient color contrast: Individual text elements do not meet the required minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1.
Forms without clear labels: Several form fields do not have a visible label or aria-label, making them difficult for screen readers to interpret.
  • Links that open in a new tab: These links do not contain any indication for screen readers that a new browser window is opening.
  • Missing ARIA roles in menus and drop-downs: In certain areas, attributes such as aria-haspopup or aria-expanded are missing to clearly display the states and functions for screen reader users.
  • Limited use when JavaScript is disabled: Some functions, in particular form submission, are not available without JavaScript enabled.

We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our website. To this end, we regularly conduct tests to ensure that current standards for web accessibility are met.
